Refreshments
Can we ride the donkeys?2023-04-04T17:04:34+01:00

Sorry but no we do not offer donkey rides here at Big Sky Alpacas.

What time shall I arrive for my experience?2020-06-18T15:25:05+01:00

Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes before your booked session as the gates will be closed and you may block the farmer’s access to his fields as we are on a single track lane.

Do you provide refreshments?2020-03-17T19:45:54+00:00

Yes, a cup of tea or coffee or a cold drink with a slice of cake or cupcake is included in walks and workshops. We do our best to cater for all dietary needs but prior notice is required if you have specific dietary requirements.

Can I come along on my own?2020-03-17T19:45:30+00:00

Of course you can but as Alpacas are herd animals they cannot walk on their own. We only walk a maximum of 5 Alpacas at a time so you can join a session with other likeminded alpaca lovers or if you’re the only one booked into a session we will walk the other boys with you.

What is the maximum number of people in one session?2023-04-04T17:03:58+01:00

We only walk 5 Alpacas at a time so the maximum with two sharing an alpaca is 10 people, although if you’d like a bespoke group booking/package please email or call to discuss the options. We only walk 4 donkeys at a time so the maximum with 2 sharing a donkey is 8 guests at a time, although if you’d like a bespoke group booking/package please email, text or call to discuss the options.

What should we wear?2020-03-17T19:44:30+00:00

Please wear sensible walking footwear as the ground (whilst flat) can be a little uneven in places. Depending in the weather either sunscreen or waterproofs would be needed but please no flapping coats or umbrellas as these can startle the Alpacas. No need to bring anything else except your camera!

Can we just turn up without having booked?2020-03-17T19:44:08+00:00

No sorry, we operate out of our family home and only open to the public for our experiences and workshops which must be pre-booked due to the limited numbers we cater for.

Can I bring my dog along?2020-03-17T19:43:25+00:00

Unfortunately we are unable to allow your dogs to accompany you on your experience, whilst we love dogs, Alpacas are naturally fearful of them and their presence can alarm and upset the Alpacas. As I’m sure you will appreciate their welfare is of utmost importance to us.

How do I book a walk?2020-03-17T19:43:04+00:00

Bookings must be made in advance online using the booking page of our website.

Do you walk in all weathers?2020-03-17T19:43:45+00:00

Nobody enjoys being out in the cold and driving rain but the odd shower isn’t really a problem to us or the Alpacas. It is rare to have to cancel a walk due to the weather conditions but if this is the case we will do our best to rearrange the experience or if this is not possible we will reimburse you or offer you a voucher that will be valid for 12 months. Having said that we have own little microclimate here by the coast and often miss the worst of the bad weather.
